Ingredients

  • red bell peppers(diced)

  • 2 poundsground meat(coarse)
  • 15 ozpinto or kidney beans(canned)

  • 8 oztomato sauce(canned)
  • chili seasoning blend
  • crushed red pepper

  • masa flour
  • 2 cupswater

Instructions

  1. Brown 2 pounds of coarse ground meat (beef, pork, venison, or a combination of your choosing) until redness turns gray; drain off excess fat.
  2. Add about 2 cups of water, one 8 oz. can of tomato sauce, and the large packet of Shotgun Willie’s Texas Chili Seasoning Blend.
  3. Return top to kettle, bring to boil and reduce heat. Simmer slowly for 1 hour or until meat is tender, stirring occasionally.
  4. About 30 minutes before the chili is ready, some folks add a 15 oz. can of pinto or kidney beans.
  5. Now is also the time to mix in the masa for those that like the flavor and the thickness it adds to their chili. Mix the flour with enough water to form a pourable mixture and stir into chili until it reaches desired thickness.
  6. Just simmer another 20-30 minutes and your ready for the best bowl of authentic "Texas Red" that has ever been fixed.
