Nourishing Congee Recipe

Ingredients

  • tofu
  • cooked chicken(cooked)

  • 1 cupwhite rice
pantry staple
  • soy sauce
  • salt
  • sesame oil

  • 8 cupswater or broth

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large pot, combine the rinsed rice and water or broth.
  3. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low.
  4. Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the rice is very tender and the mixture is creamy, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  5. Season with salt to taste.
  6. Serve hot with optional toppings of your choice.
