Smoky Mushroom Gratin

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Clean the chanterelle mushrooms with a damp cloth and trim any tough stems.
  3. Slice the mushrooms and set aside.
  4. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and add chopped garlic and onion. Sauté until translucent.
  5. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are golden brown.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. In a baking dish, layer the sautéed mushrooms with slices of bread.
  8. Pour cream over the layers and top with grated cheese.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  10. Serve hot as a side dish or main course.

Chanterelle mushrooms have a nutty flavor that pairs well with creamy dishes.
